About the series

Grimes Public Library is proud to offer Community Conversations, a personal leadership development journey. This four-part series journeys participants through topics, strategies, and ideas that help them build the life they have always dreamt of. We’ll get started by identifying the factors that motivate us to change and evolve by taking a look at Start with Why by Simon Sinek. Next we’ll dive in to the twelve breakthrough practices for bringing creativity into all human endeavors with The Art of Possibility with Benjamin and Rosamund Zander. As we begin to have a firm understanding of what motivates us and what all of the possibilities are, we’ll take a look at our own Emotional Intelligence and how to leverage our emotional intelligence to influence ourselves and others. Finally, we’ll examine vulnerability and look at how (and why) it is necessary to lean in to the unknown with Brene Brown’s Daring Greatly. Participants may attend any or all of the conversations, and will be able to leverage their new insights and skills for themselves, their families, their organizations, and their communities.
