About The Library

The Grimes Public Library was officially founded on June 15, 1972 with the passing of a city ordinance that established a library.  Originally located at 213 South Main Street, the library was relocated to a new building at 200 North James Street in 1994. A new library building was opened on January 30, 2024 at 200 NE Beaverbrooke Blvd. in Grimes.

The Grimes Public Library is a comfortable and productive place to connect with the community in person and online. The library strives to provide free and available resources and services that promote reading readiness, provide access and guidance for information technology, support lifelong learning, and stimulate the imagination through reading, viewing, and listening for pleasure.

The library offers a wide variety of programs and services in addition to a diverse set of collections. In house, you will find

  • A variety of magazines for checkoutlibrary
  • DVDs, BluRay movies and videogames for checkout
  •  American Girl Dolls for checkout
  • Literacy and STEM kits for checkout
  • Daily and weekly newspapers

  • 2 large Meeting rooms that can be divided into 4 conference rooms
  • 5 study rooms (one for children, 4 for adults)
  • Daily, weekly and monthly programming for patrons of all ages
  • Public access computers including Internet access and printing
  • In person reference and reader’s advisory services
