Get a Library Card
Iowa residents living in an Open Access area age 5 and above are eligible for a free library card with photo identification and proof of residency at your current address. If your photo identification does not have your current address, identification such as a checkbook, utility bill, or machine printed mail will be required to provide proof of address. Patrons 17 and under must have the signature of a parent or legal guardian with the adult showing appropriate identification. Library cards are renewed every year, at which time your account balance must be paid in full. There is a $1 fee to replace a lost card. Promptly report a lost or stolen card.
The library interprets possession of a library card as consent to use it unless it has been reported lost or stolen by the account holder. A library card or photo identification is required at all times to borrow library materials or use library computers.
Library users may have up to 200 items checked out on their card at one time. DVDs and Blu-rays are limited to a combination of 10 of these items on one account at a time, and 2 video game per account.
Most library materials may be renewed twice. Renew via the online catalog, in person, by email, or by calling the library. Items will not renew if they are requested by another patron, or if your account balance is over $4.00.
If the item you need is checked out, you may reserve it via the online catalog, in person, by email, or by calling the library. When the item is available, you will be notified and will have 3 days to pick the item up.
